Warsaw Museum of Dance (2017)
Good evening. My name is Bartosz Ostrowski and although my microphone is more of a fitnessclass-type, as part of the Warsaw Museum of Dance I worked on the personal of (…), who established The School of Eurythmics and Artistic Dance in Warsaw during the interwar period.
During The Night of Museums on 20th of May 2017 in Museum of Warsaw Praga four solos where presented, each lasting fifteen minutes, each was shown three times. The idea was taken by FORMAT ZERO from the initiative of Boris Charmatz. dotcompany (Bartosz Ostrowski, Patrycja Kowańska) was working on one of the solo performances. This short work explored the topic of current dance education system in Poland.
Boris Charmatz has sent me this recording, which I hope will bring a closer look on the circumstances of our tonights meeting.
As part of Warsaw Museum of Dance Bartosz Ostrowski researched the personal of Janina Mieczyńska, who had established The School of Eurythmics and Artistic Dance in Warsaw during the interwar period. The fact of absence of such a place nowadays has became the central part of his solo work. The author, using Rudolf Laban’s and Emil Dalcroze method principles, constructed a performative exercise, which focused on the issues of space and time in reference to contemporary dance educational opportunities.
There is no professional institution inhere. There are many. The there from where you come back or you stay forever. Maybe I would like to be there now. Here is not there, because there is there and here is here. Is it about bringing the there here? How to make is so that from the there the here is the there?
